Privacy Policy
We believe privacy is a right, not a privilege. Here's exactly how CoRide collects, uses, and protects your personal data — from your Eco Score to your ride preferences.

Information We Collect
- Account Information: Name, phone number, and government-issued ID (Aadhaar or equivalent) provided during OTP-based registration.
- Ride Data: Pick-up & drop-off locations, seat selection, fare split details, scheduled ride times, weekly commute plans, and ride history.
- Driver Data: Driving licence, vehicle registration certificate (RC), insurance documents, and real-time vehicle location during an active ride.
- Location Data: Real-time GPS coordinates during active rides for AI-based route matching, live tracking, and family status sharing.
- Preference Data: Music preferences, AC/non-AC choice, silent ride option, seat comfort preference (front/window), and pet-friendly settings.
- Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through our payment partner. We never store raw card numbers or UPI credentials.
- Communication Data: In-app chat messages (encrypted in transit) and masked voice call metadata (actual audio is never recorded).
- Sustainability Data: Trip distance and passenger count used solely to calculate your personal Eco Score (carbon footprint tracker).
How We Use Your Information
- To match passengers and drivers with overlapping routes using our AI-based smart ride-matching algorithm.
- To enable seat-based fare splitting and AI fare suggestions, ensuring transparent and fair cost sharing.
- To provide real-time GPS tracking visible to both co-riders and family members you choose to share your ride status with.
- To power safety features including the SOS emergency button, driver background verification, and ride insurance coverage.
- To apply dynamic pricing based on real-time demand, factoring in your seat preference and trip parameters.
- To personalise your ride experience based on preferences (music, AC, silent ride, seat comfort, pet-friendly).
- To manage the Loyalty Rewards Programme, Referral Bonus System, and Subscription Plans for frequent travellers.
- To compute your Eco Score, which tracks the carbon footprint saved through ride-sharing versus solo travel.
- To send OTPs, ride confirmations, and service notifications via SMS/email.
Information Sharing
- Co-Passengers & Drivers: Your first name, verified badge status, profile photo, and ride rating are visible to matched co-riders.
- Family / Trusted Contacts: If you use 'Share Ride Status', your live location link is shared only with the contacts you explicitly choose.
- Payment Processors: Encrypted billing data is shared with our payment gateway (Razorpay / UPI) solely for transaction processing.
- Insurance Partner: Minimum ride metadata (distance, passenger count, timestamps) is shared with our insurance partner for active ride coverage.
- Analytics Tools: Anonymised, aggregated usage data (never personally identifiable) may be used to improve AI matching accuracy.
- Legal Authorities: We may disclose data when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertisers or any third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies & Tracking
- We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain session state across the CoRide web platform.
- Analytics cookies help us understand in-app feature adoption (e.g., how riders use weekly commute planning or the Eco Score dashboard).
- AI model performance metrics use anonymised, aggregated ride data — never individual identifiable journeys.
- You can manage cookie preferences in-app or through your browser settings at any time. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold — including your ride history, preferences, and Eco Score records.
- Correction: Update inaccurate information from your profile settings at any time.
- Deletion: Request full account deletion — data is purged within 30 days (except records required for insurance, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes).
- Portability: Export your ride history, loyalty points balance, and account data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. Core service notifications (OTPs, safety alerts) cannot be opted out of.

Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
- Masked voice calling ensures your real phone number is never exposed to other users.
- In-app chat messages are end-to-end encrypted and automatically purged 7 days after a ride ends.
- Regular penetration tests and security audits are conducted. Access to production data is restricted and logged.
- In the event of a data breach, affected users will be notified within 72 hours.
